About me and this blog

Hi there,

My name is Daphne, and I'm from Belgium (yes, the promised land indeed, at least when it comes to chocolate, waffles, beer, chips/fries and so much more).
I studied history at university (Ghent). I'm mainly interested in the ancient near east, egyptian history and the middle ages (yes I know there's quite a chronological gap in there, but I can't help it :)
I also have a minor in archaeology. In fact if I had to choose all over again, I'd probably end up doing either archaeology or art history. That'd be a difficult choice..
I also absolutely love to bake. For that reason (and 'cause I just can't help myself) I have a massive collection of cookbooks. Although I have to say some of them don't have a very detailed description of the recipe whilst other tend to 'forget' to include helpful tips. That can lead to some major failures, and since defeat (def. from a 'simple' recipe) can be hard to overcome I decided to write a blog about baking and how to achieve the best (for a nonprofessional that is) results. I include as many pictures as possible from the starting point of the recipe, not just of the finished result.. Just so you know exactly what I mean when I say something like 'the mixture should be light and fluffy'.
I hope this blog can help avoid any serious let-downs (don't you just feel like hitting something/ crying when you had your heart set on some cake/pie/cookie/... and it just ends up being a total unedible disaster?? I know I do :)
Hope you enjoy your stay, and feel free to ask questions, or give suggestions. Feedback is always welcome!

Daphne
