Preheating the oven...

Metaphorically speaking that is..
This is my very first blogpost ever (exciting much).
I'll hold off on the baking 'till the next post :) Sorry to dissapoint any die-hard bakers :)
But rest assured, most, if not all other posts will be about baked goodies and how I make them.

Whilst browsing a gazillion different cooking and baking blogs, I started to think about making my own blog. I've been baking for quite a long time and have learned a lot by trial and error. When I read cookbooks and blogs, I'm always drawn to pretty pictures that look mouthwatering. But more and more I also look for books with a clear recipe, a good explanation and extra tips and tricks. I find that with some books my effort looks nowhere near the picture in the cookbook (I particularly remember a certain chocolate-orangemousse cake wich near drove me to tears and a few outbursts :) )
I would like to think that my blog will give you some nice recipes and some baker'secrets' thrown in to help you get the best result possible.

Perhaps you're interested in the person behind this brand spanking new blog.
If so, here's a little something. If however you're thinking "purrrrrlease girl, just get on with it", do feel free to skip this bit :)
I'm 24, just graduated university (I now have a masterdegree in history thank you very much) and currently looking for a job. Last year I decided to take my baking to the 'next level' and enrolled in a course of baking in evening lessons. So far I consider this to be one of the best decisions I've ever made :)

One of my wildest dreams is to one day own a little cake shop where people can sit down and enjoy a slice of cake, or take-away whatever cake tickles their fancy. That'll be for when I win the lottery though...
My native language is not english, so please excuse any mistakes or misspellings I make (if you feel like it's just unbearably bad english and the sheer sight of it is hurting your eyeballs, please don't hesitate to tell). I'll try and do all recipes in english AND in dutch (that IS my native language) so that as many people as possible can read and use this blog.
If you have anything to say about the recipes (questions, tips, complaints, irregularities,...) do let me know in the comments. I'll always try and answer as best as I can.

That's enough information for this first post I guess. Now I'll whip out my apron and start making the very first baked goodies to put on this blog. Post will follow as soon as possible.
